In the Gaza Strip, an Israeli air raid demolished a building that housed international media offices, which includes Al Jazeera’s.
It was uncertain whether anyone was injured in the strike on Saturday. The 11-story al-Jalaa building, which also contains several residences and other offices, was seen collapsing to the surface after being blown up, with dust and debris flying into the air on the live Al Jazeera video.
Al Jazeera released a statement castigating the strike and imploring all media and human rights organizations to join forces in decrying the airstrikes and holding the Israeli government fully responsible.
Meanwhile, the Associated Press described the Israeli airstrike as “horrifying and dreadful” on Saturday.
AP President and CEO, Gary Pruitt, in a statement which he released on Saturday after the nefarious airstrikes said that
An hour before the airstrike, Israel issued an evacuation warning to residents of the building, which also housed residential apartments and the Associated Press bureau.
Below is a video showing the tense moment journalists tried to grab their belongings and evacuate the building before the airstrikes were carried out.
