Oleksandr Usyk feels he will be the last man standing at the end of his world heavyweight championship fight against Anthony Joshua, which has been slated for September 25.
In a bout that will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London, Joshua will look forward to retaining his WBA, IBO, WBO, and IBF belts against the Ukrainian, the WBO’s mandatory opponent, who was the absolute world champion at cruiserweight.
Usyk on his end believes that he has what it takes to upset Anthony Joshua. The fighter in his official announcement about the fight said
After his preparations to fight Tyson Fury for the undisputed world heavyweight belt were hindered, Joshua was compelled to turn to Usyk.
It was originally slated for August 14, the same date Joshua was expected to fight Fury before a US judge ordered that Fury would have to fight Deontay Wilder alternatively, Joshua chose to take two weeks off training to focus on Usyk, hence a later date was arranged.
Anthony Joshua also talked about the upcoming match with Oleksandr Usyk. He made it known, how special the match will be for him, as it will give him an avenue to defend his crown.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which opened in 2019, will be utilized for the first time for boxing.
Joshua’s defense against Kubrat Pulev was set to take place there in the summer of 2020, but it was suspended because of the virus Outbreak.
