Baba Ijesha case adjourned to September 27th due to Judge’s absence

Baba Ijesha was indicted with six charges on June 24th

On September 27th, the case of Nollywood star Olanrewaju James, a.k.a. Baba Ijesha, will continue for purported defilement.

An Ikeja Special Offences Court in Lagos is hearing the actor’s case.

The hearing was adjourned owing to the unavailability of Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, after the case had been slated to commence on Wednesday.

Justice Taiwo, along with other members of the Lagos State Judiciary, is attending a Judges Retreat.

The parties to the lawsuit have been advised of the amended trial date. Baba Ijesha was indicted with six charges on June 24th.

Two witnesses were brought during the prosecution, which was led by Mrs. Olayinka Adeyemi, the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The foster mother of the minor, Damilola Adekoya, a popular comedian who is also known as Princess, was the first.

The assaulted girl is the second prosecution witness. On July 27th, they testified in court for the last time.

Baba Ijesha reportedly sexually molested the girl, who was 7 years old at the time, between 2013 and 2014 by inserting his car keys into her vagina.

The defendant reportedly positioned her on his laps, sexually caressed her, and rubbed his penis across her body.

The DPP, while briefing the court about what further transpired, she said

He also attempted to have sexual intercourse with the complainant by unbuckling his belt and unzipping his trousers after sexually assaulting her,” the DPP told the court.
