Boko Haram, ISWAP are surrendering due to new military strategies- Ahmad Lawan

Terrorists putting down their arms, according to Lawan, is a hint that the insurgency fight will soon be brought to an end and peace will reign

Boko Haram and Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have reportedly surrendered in large numbers owing to the new strategies by the military, according to Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

On Monday, following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, he explained why Bandits in outrageous numbers have been surrendering their arms and repenting.

The Yobe senator expressed satisfaction with the military forces and other security agencies measures to combat insurgents.

Terrorists putting down their arms, according to Lawan, is a hint that the insurgency fight will soon be brought to an end and peace will reign.

According to the senate president, he communicated

I’m sure the new strategies by the current leadership of the armed forces are working.

He pressed that the surrendering could also be because the military has killed top commanders of the insurgents.

Boko Haram, having lost its leader and probably having lost so many commanders, some of them think they should just throw in the towel.
