The federal government denies awareness of Twitter deleting Buhari's tweet

The Nigerian federal government has declared that it was ignorant of Twitter deleting President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet which caused an outburst of complaint last month.

We had earlier reported that Twitter deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet, which according to Twitter violates their policy.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and the federal government claimed they were ignorant of the tweet in a counter-affidavit filed before the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court in response to a suit filed by a human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong.

The AGF, the Minister of Information, and the Federal Government are mentioned as first to third respondents in the claim.

The counter-affidavit reads

The first and third respondents are not aware of any tweet purportedly emanating from President Muhammadu Buhari which Twitter investigated and found that it violated Twitter rules and that Twitter did not consider it proper to inform the third respondent of such
