To mark the Galwan valley clash at the anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) founding day on August 1, China’s official English television channel, CGTN, has published a video on social media and its website about one of the four PLA soldiers who did die fighting Indian troops in Galwan Valley in June 2020.
Chen Hongjun, one of the four PLA troops slain in the horrific confrontation with Indian border personnel on the night of June 15, 2020, is the centerpiece of the video.
The clip shows modified scenes of the Galwan Valley clash between the two armies, Chinese machinery on the banks of the fast-flowing river, soldiers, mostly Chinese, wading in knee-deep water, and personnel from both sides charging at each other, in addition to interviews with Chen’s family members, as well as his wife.
The handle @detresfa_, which compiles open-source intelligence, tweeted a similar video from Weibo.
The scene starts with a one-sided introduction to the Galwan Valley conflict, which seemed to be directed at a domestic Chinese audience.
