June 12 Protest- Ondo police PRO warns youths against Upcoming protest in the state

The Ondo State Police Command has declared that it will not stand by and watch any protest in the state

Nigerian youths in thousands are looking forward to the June 12 protest. The aim of the protest is to serve as a voice to show displeasure about the recent happenings in the country.

The Ondo State Police Command has declared that it will not stand by and watch any protest in the state, under any guise, devolve into the #EndSARS mayhem.

The command’s public relations officer, DSP Tee Leo-Ikoro, while reacting to the scheduled June 12 protest told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the police are “battle-ready” to avert any disruption in law and order by any group or individual.

Note that suspected hoodlums hijacked the nonviolent protest against police brutality known as “EndSARS,” which happened across Nigeria in October 2020, and vandalized numerous public assets.

We hear that some students are embarking on a peaceful protest on June 12. We want to believe that it’ll be peaceful, as they have said.

We must, however, warn anyone with the intent of causing mayhem or engaging in any activity that can lead to the breakdown of law and order or destruction of government property to have a rethink.

We’re fully on ground and we have deployed our men in all the nooks and crannies of the state to maintain law and order. Any violator will be severely dealt with in accordance with the law.

We will not fold our arms and watch any protest, under whatever guise, to escalate to the level of the last EndSARS protest.

We’ll arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable.
