Malami deactivates Twitter account after threatening prosecution of its users

Malami had earlier vowed to prosecute Nigerians who persisted to use Virtual Private Networks to access Twitter on Saturday

Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Attorney-General of the Federation, deactivated his Twitter account on Tuesday to express sympathy with the Federal Government, which had banned the Micro-blogging platform last Friday.

Meanwhile, since all Internet Service Providers in the nation have restricted the Twitter URL, it’s questionable how Malami was able to log into his twitter account.

Malami had earlier vowed to prosecute Nigerians who persisted to use Virtual Private Networks to access Twitter on Saturday, regardless of the fact that no Nigerian law makes it unlawful to tweet.

On Tuesday, the AGF posted a photo to his Facebook page with the comment,

My Twitter account deactivated.
