Nigeria Emerged as the Number one importer in Africa- World Trade Organization

Nigeria was ranked 25th in the world and number one in Africa according to the WTO

According to data released by the World Trade Organization on Friday, Nigeria emerged as the top importer of commercial services in Africa in 2020.

Nigeria ranks 25th in the world, but first in Africa, by the Geneva-based international trade organization, which was followed by Egypt, which was ranked 28th in the world.

While Egypt and Morocco were included in the list of world exporters led by the United States, Nigeria was visibly missing from the list of global commercial exporters.

The United States also made the charts of commercial importers, followed by China, the United Kingdom, and Japan, while the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and India topped the list of exporters.

The World Trade Organization confirmed that the preliminary estimates were based on quarterly statistical data.

Figures for the number of countries and territories have been estimated by the Secretariat.

Data for 2020 are not yet available for the United Arab Emirates. In 2019, commercial services exports were valued at US$72 billion and imports at US$73 billion.
