Prime Minister Boris Johnson cancels his scheduled visit to India

The prime minister canceled his plan due to a surge in Covid-19 cases in India

Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in India, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has decided to cancel his visit to the country on April 25.

In a message which was disclosed by the British and the Indian government on Monday, the statement unfolds that following the increase in the coronavirus casualties, the UK prime minister wouldn’t be able to make his way to India but hopefully, later in the year.

In view of the prevailing current coronavirus situation, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will not be able to travel to India next week.

instead, Prime Ministers Modi and Johnson will speak later this month to agree and launch their ambitious plans for the future partnership between the UK and India.

They will remain in regular contact beyond this and look forward to meeting in person later this year.

The visit was supposed to be Britain’s PM’s first major bilateral visit outside of Europe since the UK general election in December 2019 and the end of the Brexit transition period in December 2020.
