Xavi to Barcelona: Why I snubbed Barcelona twice- Xavi

On a few occasions, the Blaugrana legend has been presented a way back to Camp Nou, but such proposals have been declined

The legendary midfielder has explained why Xavi to Barcelona dream of fans was restrained and could not be achieved yet.

On a few occasions, the Blaugrana legend has been presented a way back to Camp Nou, but such proposals have been declined.

Xavi has clarified why he rebuffed two invitations from Barcelona to be their next manager.

When the Liga giants have summoned motivation from the dugout in recent years, they’ve called on a familiar face.

Both approaches have been initially rejected, with a club veteran who is still working as a coach in Qatar with Al Sadd not convinced that the time is right to return to Camp Nou.

Xavi disclosed the turning down of transfer to Barcelona in an interview with La Vanguardia, he said

Fortunately or unfortunately I have said no to Barcelona twice, due to different circumstances, family, professional, contractual…

And of course, it was very difficult because I am a Barcelona fan, but it was not the [right] time. Whatever comes will come, it will be evaluated and we will decide.

[Offers] arrived years ago, but it was not the time. Barcelona came and it was not the time. There is no hurry.

Xabi Alonso said the other day that he wants to coach in his own way and I can relate to that.

The Spanish have agreed to work alongside Ronald Koeman for another season, with the Dutchman being told that he will be able to stretch his deal until 2022.

After that, more change may be sought, but Xavi is sure that Barca are not on his short-term radar.

When he returned to Spain earlier in the summer, he generated a buzz of speculation, but he feels that too much is being read into his every act.
